ENTANGLED/ENREDADAS It is conceived in two formats: performative dress and photography.

Made with gillnets, this piece was created as an ecofeminist protest. With this work, Andreu commits to two of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda: Goal 14, which aims to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources, and Goal 5, focused on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls.

Gillnets are fishing gear that trap fish by their gills or entangle them. Their use while drifting poses a risk to marine life and habitats because they cause a large number of bycatches of unwanted species of fish, turtles, corals, birds, sharks, and mammals. They can also cause injury, suffocation, stress, and death to the animals caught. Besides this, when these nets are abandoned, they represent the largest source of plastic pollution in the sea. European legislation prohibits the use of drifting gillnets and their retention on board fishing vessels, and the UN prohibits their use on the high seas.

Furthermore, SDG 5 aims to end discrimination and violence in all its forms. Millions of women are unable to dress freely and are trapped by clothing restrictions.

With ENREDADAS/ENTANGLED, Andreu denounces both situations in order to contribute to the achievement of these SDGs through performative artistic creation.
