High visibility bib pants is conceived in different formats: performance, video performance, installation, and photography.
Women and the sea have a connection to the fishing sector through the work they do, which, however, is not fairly valued. There are fisherwomen, managers, administrative staff, women who work in processing and marketing. Although most women working in the maritime sector work on land preparing materials, packaging, or handling merchandise, they also work at sea. This means that their work often extends from land to sea, both on and off the boats. And their domestic and household care responsibilities also continue. These women, in their fishing work, are either not registered or are registered inadequately, and not all the work they do is recorded. This lack of registration leads to problems such as pensions, sick leave, and work-related health issues, in addition to fostering an underground economy. They are unrecognized, invisible full-time workers.
In HIGH VISIBILITY BIB PANTS, Andreu uses and wears a fluorescent Valencian fishing bib, which the artist has altered. This situation is brought to light to encourage reflection on the work of these women and to promote, through artistic creation, their ability to achieve recognition and fair wages.
