nomen omen

NOMEN OMEN

Photographic collage, digital print, 50 x 50 cm, 2025

NOMEN OMEN is a work laden with symbolism. With it, Violeta Andreu explores the figure of Paloma Picasso, daughter of the Málaga-born artist and the French artist Françoise Gilot. She was born the year her father drew the famous Dove of Peace: white, and sometimes adorned with an olive branch. This fact led to her being named Paloma (Dove). Being the daughter of Pablo Picasso—her connection to Spain—marked and shaped her life. She herself, a jewelry designer, incorporated the olive branch into many of her pieces.

NOMEN OMEN was part of the group exhibition Women in the Life of Picasso.
