Other links/Otros enlaces is a project carried out for “Espacios Cruzados. Journeys on Artistic Intervention of the Autonomous University of Madrid”, from 04.19.1999 to 05.07.1999. The project was carried out in two performances: one, in the cafeteria of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters; and another, in the Humanities Library and in said cafeteria. Artistic intervention curated by Jesús Carrillo.

The first action focused on making visible the work of the women in charge of cleaning the canteen, who after each day collected, swept and scrubbed what was dirty by the students, until everything was clean and ready for the next day. For this, the recording of his work was shown on a monitor arranged in the bar, in the middle of all the students in their break time. The video ends with the padlocking of the front door, to be repeated in a loop during the bar’s opening hours. The same space is lived in different ways, dependent on each other and, while the leisure time of the students is visible, the work carried out by these women to collect all the dirt they generate is no longer hidden with the intervention.

The second action of the project consisted of relating different ways of using the student day according to the spaces. A monitor was displayed in the Humanities library with the students having fun and interacting in the Philosophy and Letters bar, while in this same cafeteria, a video was shown with the students studying without interacting with each other in the library.

Both performances were shown as conflicting narratives in said cafeteria.
